It contains 6 Nins, 3 Nins with a top hat, 3 small felt sacks, 3 felt hoods, 1 felt circle, 1 semishpere, 1 cone, 3 mushrooms, 3 coins, 2 little bars, 1 big bar, and textile bag with GOT Certificate fabric.
The Nins of the forest become a toy which can be used as a symbolic game, to create stories and small worlds. However, combined with other elements, they can be part of mathematical, language and sensorial games, among others. Moreover, this material is not structured, which allows for it to be used in a broad number of ways. The adaptability of these materials contribute to creative and divergent ways of thinking.
Many elements in this material are suggestions to create small worlds, miniature scenes that invite children to express and act out stories from their own internal world to the real world. This is done through games, emotions, movement, imagination, etc. The protagonists of the children’s tales and legends are the Nins with a top hat, with or without a hood. The different materials that accompany the ‘Nins’ create scenes where they can live and feel a whole new imaginary world.
When you think of Grapat's toys, the first things that comes to mind are nature, family, and innovation. Their products are ecofriendly with lively colors and a great story waiting to be told. All of their toys are made out of wood obtained from a sustainable forest, and those great colors are water-based non-toxic paint.
Part of Grapat's policies for sustainability includes having eliminated 100% of the plastic usage on their products as well as wrappings, since 2019.
Grapat's toys started as a family project that emerged out of love. The inspiration began with their eldest daughter to try to give her the freedom to create her world with safe materials. It is understood by them that children need to play; it is a force that no one can stop. And what better way to channel this need than with a great variety of pieces that invite and incite creativity.
All of the toys are presented with no set of instructions that will give your child the autonomy and creativity to do with them what comes to mind. They are not subject to standards or rules of any kind, as long as, of course, they have a safe environment.
The pieces at Grapat are unique; they are painted by hand with degraded colors inspired by nature. The finishing of the articles is made with vegetable waxes and oils, so they are entirely safe to play with. Part of the goal that comes along with the pieces is to improve learning, creativity, and motor skills, which is why one of their collaborators is Growing with Montessori.
The variety of Grapat's toys is so wide you can choose from it depending on what you are looking for. For example, the Natural Rattle for age +0 months, that will help your baby improve visual development and depth perception. Or the Platform 4 seasons and the houses, for age +12 months that will give them the freedom to build their own town or city with as many colors, people, and diversions that they can imagine. All of their toys are considered open-ended, which means there is no specific role to maintain, and your child´s playtime will always be taken with a big “Yes.” Everything is possible for them.
As your child creates new worlds with these pieces, naturally, the colors will fade, and some marks will come up in the wood. This is an excellent stage for them because, just as in life, marks, wrinkles, scars, should be celebrated as they come from life. The goal is to have enjoyed them as much as possible and use them for as long as they want.
